Why Journaling is a Way to Move Forward into a Life you Desire, by AJ Michiels

Updated: Jul 16, 2023

Dear Diary, It's me AJ...Why Journaling is an excellent way to move forward into a life that you desire, create and love! It's not just about writing out your feelings or recording emotions, its also about developing a better creative side. When you tap into your creative side, you can write better content for your sales posts, e-guides and promos for your BIZ. You may be surprised to learn that one of your best wellness tools is actually a journal. Journaling offers so many amazing benefits like easing stress, self discovery, and letting go.

Keep in mind its for your eyes only, you can write whatever you want, its basically your own diary. It helps you sort through and let go of things that no longer serve you. Its an amazing tool to use once you get used to it. I have found tremendous benefit and it was the key puzzle piece I was missing all these years of struggling. When I finally started writing it all out, sorting through my mess, it was then that I realized that what I worried about wasn't even my stuff but stuff put onto me by others. It was a very big eye opener and something that helped me grow and move foward into a better, happier and definitely healthier life! If nothing else, giver a try and add some journaling to your self care routine.

Here are some AMAZING Benefits:

  • Reduces your stress levels which can be damaging to your physical, emotional and mental health. It can calm you down by lowering your blood pressure, improving your immune system, and helping you ease your mind

  • Write it out! Writing about stressful experiences and then letting it go helps you move forward. Not that you have to go back to relive an experience, but to help you sort it out or find your triggers so you can move forward

  • Keeps Memory Sharp by helping you focus better

  • Helps you figure out what mood you are in. Sometimes we are fuzzy and not sure why, but writing it down helps us put it in perspective. It also helps us keep track of what moods we are regularily in

  • Let's you express exactly how you are feeling without judgement and let's you just get it off your chest. Sometimes the worries we have are easier to manage or not as big as we think once we write them down

  • Journaling encourages space from negative thoughts by allowing you to distance yourself from the negative thoughts and moving yourself into a more positive thought pattern/habit

  • Journaling provides a way to process emotions. Your emotions have a way of still popping up to the surface and affecting your actions despite your best efforts to shove them down

  • Journaling gives you the opportunity to process your emotions in a safe, contained space. Naming the specific emotions you’re experiencing and accepting them reducing their power on you

  • Journaling can help you figure out your next steps and goals

  • It helps you sort out your emotions on a situation, maybe there is a lesson or something you are meant to figure out

  • Journaling deepens self-discovery and helps you be more creative. When we write, we learn our preferences, pain points, fears, favorites, and dreams

Try these tips for building a Healthy Habit of Writing it out:

  • Figure out what way you want to write ie. Paper, doc on the computer, phone, etc. Make sure its something you will commit to regularily. Simple is best!

  • Make it a habit by doing it at the same time each time ie. AM works best for me as I am doing AM Meditations. I also keep a notebook by the bed which I tend to use in my PM Routine

  • Write for a minute anything that comes to mind. Don't think just write, let your mind wander

  • Write out things that you are grateful for

  • Write out 3 wishes you have

  • Write out your story of life in 10 words
